Be Heard! America’s Youth Forum
Taped live in shopping mall venues, Be Heard! is a series that offers today’s teens a respectful and supportive environment to voice their opinions and share their experiences on a broad range of topics that affect their lives. Be Heard! also offers adults the opportunity to listen to today’s young people, thereby gaining a better perspective on their unique issues and concerns. Through the presentation of 30 minute segments, Be Heard! aims to empower our youth, and to encourage an on-going dialog crossing generational lines. The six-part pilot series was broadcast through syndication on 30 PBS stations, nationwide. Today's young people seek individuality, a need to be different. They want to make a statement and to be understood. They have a voice. BE HEARD! was created to give young people the platform to speak out on the issues that play a roll in their futures such as the environment and the economy. The content is endless and starts at the grassroots level, but appeals to a worldwide audience. BE HEARD! creates a movement within a demographic that traditionally has been seen - but not heard. Now, BE HEARD! is taking this platform on tour so that young people everywhere can BE HEARD!
The BE HEARD! Tour launched at the Aspen Institute Environmental Forum, March 26-29, 2008 and that was just the beginning. The tour will also target the Democratic Convention in Denver, the Republican Convention in Minneapolis and many other events and locations.
The 2008 BE HEARD! Tour is on the cutting edge of new internet media technology. As today's youth are turning more to online content and spending less time in front of the television BE HEARD! is allowing young people to tune into meaningful programming that is relevant to them - what they want, when they want, anywhere they want. Our one-of-a-kind bio-diesel, solar assisted mobile internet production studio is where our youth create the magic that is BE HEARD! From shooting and editing video to streaming the final segments to our full-screen internet television station on www.beheardtv.com, this is where it all happens and best of all it's operated by youth!
