PHYSICS FOR POETS
“Physics for Poets” began with Kristin Carlson's personal obsession with poet and painter William Blake. "His work drew me first, then his life. As I learned more, I became fascinated by Blake’s perseverance in the face of criticism, dismissal and even ridicule. He believed in his vision. He believed in the transformative beauty of art. And he believed in the power of the imagination to create reality. I invite you to join us now in the realm of Imagination, where time and space are malleable and the great voices of the past may speak to us directly. As Blake says: 'Does a firm persuasion that a thing is so make it so? All poets believe that it does, and in ages of imagination, this firm persuasion moves mountains.' ”
Kristin Carlson is a poet, playwright and marketing writer. Her short play “The IQ Test” was awarded presentation at The Playwrights Showcase of the Western Region at the Arvada Center and received notice in The Denver Post. “Physics for Poets” was first given a staged reading by the Carbondale Council on the Arts and Humanities and has been selected for a staged reading series at the Pease River Playhouse in Quanah, TX.
